This site has no accounts, cookies, analytics, ads or third-party requests.

Searching

The search runs in your browser. Your browser downloads parts of the search index and the reports that match from our server, and compares them with your text on your device. Your text itself is not sent, but the files requested depend on the words you search for.

The translation step

If you choose “Translate and search”, the site sends your text to our translation step, which returns Arabic search words.

The text is sent only when you tap that button. What is sent: your text, at most 600 characters, with e-mail addresses, links, @handles and phone numbers masked first on your device and again on our server, and the code of the interface language. Your IP address and browser details are not passed on to the translation service. Please do not paste names or other personal details.

Who processes it: our host, Vercel Inc., runs the step and passes the text through its AI Gateway to a language model run by Anthropic PBC. Both companies are in the United States.

What is kept: our server logs only counts and error codes, never your text. The AI Gateway keeps no prompts or answers, and neither company uses them to train models. Anthropic does not store the text after answering, except where the law requires it or when its automated safety systems flag a request; a flagged request may be kept for up to two years.

Bot check: the first time you tap the button, the site loads Vercel BotID, which uses Kasada’s bot detection, from this site’s own address. It adds technical details about your browser to each translation request. Like any script on the page, it can read the page’s address, which holds your text after the # sign when you opened a shared link.

Your consent and your rights: the text is processed only with your explicit consent, which you give by tapping the button. The person responsible is Savaş Tutumlu. To use your rights under Turkey’s data protection law (KVKK, Article 11) or the GDPR, write to contact@takhrij.org.

Shared links

A shared link carries your text after the # sign. Browsers do not send that part of a link to any server. When you type or paste a text, the site puts it into the address only when you copy the link.

Sharing from other apps

When you share text to Takhrij from another app, the site receives it on your device and does not send it to our server: the text waits in the site’s storage on your device until the page opens it, and is removed then. Only if the site has not finished setting up on your phone does the phone send the shared text to our server, which discards it unread and asks you to share it again.

What the site keeps on your device

The site remembers your language. It also keeps copies of the pages you open and of the search files your searches use, so those pages and searches work offline too. When you copy a link to a search, or open one, the text is in the page address after the # sign, so it is also in your browser history. When you switch languages, the text in the box passes to the new page through this tab’s storage and is removed there as soon as it arrives. You can clear all of this in your browser’s settings.

Links to other sites

Links and buttons that open other sites send your request to those sites, and their own privacy policies apply there. Two kinds carry your text: the Dorar.net and Sunnah.com buttons under “We did not find this text” send it to those sites as a search, with e-mail addresses, links, handles and phone numbers taken out first; and “Share on WhatsApp” hands the reply, with its link that contains your text, to the app you choose in your device’s share menu, or, where there is no share menu, opens WhatsApp’s website with the reply written into the web address. Links from a result (sunnah.com, quran.com, Dorar.net) carry only the report’s or verse’s own reference or Arabic text.

Hosting

Like any website, this one is served by a host: Vercel Inc., in the United States. When your browser loads a page or a search file, Vercel receives your IP address, the file’s address and technical details such as your browser type, and keeps them in its request logs for one day. The search files your browser asks for depend on the words you search for; your text itself is not sent.
